Terms of Use
Effective date: [Effective date]
These terms are an agreement between you and [Company legal name] ("we", "us"), which operates Copy That at copythatfleet.com (the "service"). By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. Who can use it
You must be 18 or older to use Copy That.
2. What the service is
Copy That is a practice tool. An AI voice plays the part of an officer and asks questions in English. The app checks your spoken answers and gives you feedback in your language.
- It is an independent practice tool. It is not affiliated with FMCSA, USDOT, CVSA, any state motor vehicle agency, or any police agency.
- It is not the real English Language Proficiency check, and it is not a state retest.
- Practice does not guarantee any result. Only the officer or agency doing the real check decides.
- Scores and verdicts are estimates. AI feedback may contain mistakes.
See our Disclaimer for more.
3. Safety
Do not use the service while driving. Use it only when your vehicle is parked in a safe, legal place. You are responsible for following all traffic and safety laws.
4. No account; your access code
You do not need an account. A cookie on your device remembers your pass and your free-stop count.
When you buy a pass, you get an access code. Keep it private. Anyone with your code can use your pass. You can restore a pass on another phone with your code or with the email you used to pay.
5. Free practice
You may use one free practice stop per day. We may change the free offer at any time.
6. Passes
- Passes are one-time payments. They are not subscriptions. They do not renew automatically, and you will not be charged again unless you buy another pass.
- A pass gives you access to the paid features for the length shown when you buy it (for example, 1 day, 7 days, or 30 days).
- The price is shown in U.S. dollars before you pay.
- A pass starts when you buy it and ends after the length shown (24 hours, 7 days or 30 days), whether or not you use it.
- A pass includes up to 30 practice stops a day. This fair-use limit protects the service from abuse and automated use. If you reach it, you can practice again the next day.
7. Payments
Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your card number. Stripe's terms also apply to your payment.
8. Refunds
If the service did not help you, you can get a full refund within 24 hours of purchase. Just ask; no questions. See our Refund Policy for how.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the service for anything illegal;
- share, sell, or post access codes publicly (codes bought by a fleet or school for its own drivers are allowed under that customer's agreement);
- use bots, scripts, or other automated means to access the service;
- try to break, overload, copy, or reverse engineer the service;
- enter another person's personal information without their permission;
- say the service is official, or that it is connected to any government or police agency.
We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these rules. If we end a paid pass for a reason other than a breach of these terms, we will refund it.
10. Your content
Your spoken answers, the text of your answers, "My answers" details, and survey answers are your content. You give us permission to process your content to run the service, show you your results, and improve the practice questions. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle it and how long we keep it.
11. Our content
The app, its questions, scripts, feedback, designs, and software belong to [Company legal name] or our licensors. You may use them only for your own practice. The English example answers we write for you are yours to use for your own practice.
12. No warranty
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises or warranties, express or implied, including that the service will be accurate, always available, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose, or that it will help you pass any check or retest.
13. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, [Company legal name] is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost income, lost loads, lost jobs, fines, or out-of-service orders, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Some states do not allow some of these limits. In those states, the limits apply only as far as the law allows.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [State], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in [State], except that either of us may bring a claim in small claims court where it qualifies.
[Counsel: decide whether to add an arbitration clause and class-action waiver, and review consumer-protection rules for the states where drivers live.]
15. Changes
We may change the service or these terms. If we change these terms, we will update the effective date above. If a change is important, we will show a notice in the app. A change does not affect a pass you already bought.
16. Translations
These terms may be shown in other languages. If a translation is different from the English version, the English version controls.
